I just love photographing other photographers. Heather Mohr from Heather Mohr Photography  is another St. Louis children photographer (if you are on the other side of the river, she is AMAZING, FYI 🙂 ),  contacted me a few months ago, wanting some photos of her little guy, Quentin. She is a great newborn photographer!! Heather has 3 children. Well, 4 really. She lost a baby girl, Madelyn, just shortly after birth at 34 weeks of pregnancy. She would be turing 6 this August.  Random fact, her due date was 1 day  different that Quentin’s. It was like she was his little Angel 🙂

Quentin was born on October 7, 2014. When we went in for his 6 month checkup, their pediatrician noticed he wasn’t holding his head up like he should be. He decided he needed Quentin to see a neurologist. A couple days after that visit he became extremely ill.  He was struggling to breathe, so they called an ambulance and had him taken immediately to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. He was admitted to the PICU and stayed for 5 days. While he was there, his heart rate kept dropping too low, so he had multiple EKGs and an echo, which thankfully were all normal. He was also seen by neurology and physical therapy while he was in the hospital, due to the developmental delays his pediatrician discovered. Both agreed he is behind, and should have therapy and further testing. Since then he has had an MRI (thankfully normal) and 1 round of genetic testing. He goes in very soon for more testing. He has started physical therapy, developmental therapy, and will be starting occupational therapy soon. With all of that, he’ll be in therapy 4 days a week. He is currently anywhere from 40-70% behind developmentally. He also has feeding difficulties (dysphagia), and is at risk for aspiration, so he can’t have solids until after his swallow study in July. So he will be in my prayers and I hope you can all add him into yours as well!  All of this being said,  he is the happiest, sweetest little guy! 🙂

Mom had to cancel her shoot a few months back when this was all happening, so we have just now had his baby session. I was of course emphatic. I used to treat children with all of the above going on (I specialized in feeding therapy) as a Speech Pathologist.  I just wanted to hug her when she walked into my door. We instantly connected and will be friends for life.

This session was so special for mom AND for me. To be able to provide her with memories of her sweet boy, loving his mom, meant more than I can begin to tell you. She has been through so much and will continue to need to help Quentin throughout his life. Every mom needs a good dose of love.

How can you not want to kiss his little face off! I sure know I do. Oh and Heather? Seriously the sweetest person on the planet. Love her to pieces.
